Walpa Gorge Reviews [2022]
24When choosing a business to work with, it is always important to do your research in order to make an informed decision. Today, this is especially true, as there are countless companies competing for our business and trying to convince us that they offer the best products and services.
A very special place. Beware of dehydration risks. Take plenty of water and time your walk to forecast temperature. Check with the Parks Forecast. Pay respect to the First Peoples.
An hour's walk to the end and back. Some rough spots but not difficult. Some interesting rock formations along the way.
There are some board walks over some gutters and rough spots. All good Jim
This hike is only a short one which is 2.7 km, honestly if you missed this one that is fine as it is not so exciting like the other hikes around but if love to walk or want a very small hike for the family then go for it!

Great environment brilliant scenery only problem can't get to the final part of gorge at the moment due to track work.
This place is a bonus when you travel to Ayer Rock. We never planned travelling here initially, but when you arrive we found more fun here than Ayer Rock.
A short walk from the Kata Tjuta viewing area carpark is Walpa Gorge. Its a attractive gap between two rocks, and is well worth the look.
Really enjoyed the walk through the Gorge especially if you don't have the time to do the rim
This walk is a shade more difficult than the one to Karu Lookout. And somehow we enjoyed the experience of this trek than the other. The Walpa Gorge walk leads up to a viewpoint and it's a 40-60 min return from the car park. It's a gradual gravel track with a few rocky patches, shallow water crossings and a slippery slope. There could be shade between the gorge depending on the sun, but be sure to carry sun protection and water. It could also get windy in the gorge, which adds to the experience. A fly net is a necessary accessory in the outback. Drinking water is available at the car park.
Nice short walk, approx 15 minutes each way. Take water though and wear good shoes. Flies in summer are unbearable, even bug repellent is not effective.fly net absolutely must if you want enjoy the walk and views.also not recommended after 11am on a hot day.
The park has done a good job of letting you up there while still respecting local sensibilities. The walk is fairly gentle, but you probably need a moderate level of fitness to do it comfortably. There's also a fair bit of loose stone so you do need sturdy shoes. Well worth it though
An astounding place. I was pretty much on my own when I came here and the silence was deafening.
You'll need the agility of a goat here!
Quite nice that it's not full of tourists but you'll need sturdy shoes & really do look where you are walking, think Jurassic park! Theres no footpaths just a few bridges over dry creeks & no seating until you get to the end & it's about 30 minutes each way.
No facilities at all except parking.
Just WOW! The sheer size of it makes you feel very small. I love both the geological science behind Uluru/Kata Tjuta, and the traditional Creation Stories told by the Anangu People.
Amazing walk, suitable for most levels of fitness. Make sure you start early during hot times of the year and bring your fly net!
Wonderful experience, we live in a magnificent country, I am so glad we took the time to do the hike into the gorge.
Stunning, amazing, beautiful, gorgeous! Keep an eye out for wildlife and insects as well as the rare local flora. Take your time, tread carefully and try to avoid the hottest parts of the day.
I discovered the soles of my shoes were thin so the rocks hurt my feet and so I went slow. Missed the gorge as the tour was coming back. A hot hour looking at my feet.
Beautiful hike to the walpa gorge - there’s a viewing platform at the end with gorgeous views
Very Windy but because we went early in the morning it's much bearable than around midday I guess
This is a relatively easy walk BUT like the longer Olga’s walk it’s vital to wear decent walking shoes as the trail is loose and uneven. I saw a bunch of young blokes today head off in thongs and sandals. I’m sure they’d complete the walk if they were determined enough but unwise to start with.
